PK Series Overview

Mass Ratings

The PK 16 250 series has a GVM and GCM of 15,000kgs as standard. The PK 16 280 has a GVM of 16000kg and GCM of 20,5000kg that can be optioned up to 32,000kgs on the 9 speed manual. The PK 17 280 has a GVM of 16,500 kg and GCM range of 20.5t to 32t depending on the transmission type.

Engines

The UD Trucks medium duty range delivers improved power and torque, with better fuel economy and lower emissions, thanks to electronically-controlled common rail diesels with VNT variable geometry turbochargers and SCR technology.  Selective Catalytic Reduction converts NOx and CO2 in the exhaust to nitrogen and water, easily exceeding current Euro 5 emmission requirements.   

 

The new wholly designed and manufactured UD GH7 7 litre turbo diesel engine produces 5% more power than the previous Euro 4 model, and up to 10% better fuel economy. With 206kW on tap at 2500 rpm, and a huge 883Nm at a low 1400 rpm, the GH7's flat torque curve will pull effortlessly all day, using less fuel in the process. 

Transmissions

All PK series come standard with UD's reliable six speed manual gearbox. The UD six speed manual features a power shift mechanism that reduces shift effort for the driver. The PK series can also be optioned with a nine speed Eaton sourced manual.

An Allison push button 3000 series automatic transmisson can now also be optioned on all PK models. The six speed automatic transmission features GEN4 adaptive shift for optimum performance. 

Suspension Options

All medium duty models utilise long taper leaf springs at the front of the vehicle, matched to double acting telescopic shock absorbers. There are also multi leaf front spring options for extra heavy duty applications. UD is the only Japanese truck manufacturer to offer the option of either steel leaf or air bag rear suspension across the entire Australian medium duty range. All PK models can be optioned with Hendrickson Road Friendly Suspension (RFS) HAS230.

Safety

Brakes - ABS

UD Trucks has taken a proactive stance in active safety with the inclusion of ABS and wheel park brake as standard features across the entire truck range. ABS enables drivers to maintain steering control under severe braking conditions in an emergency or low traction conditions. PK models feature a WABCO four channel ABS system.

FUPS & Cab Strength

UD is the first Japanese manufacturer in the Australian marketplace to offer Front Underrun Protection (FUPS) on its 16t GVM range of PK models. Apart from the added safety credentials, the major advantage for operators is the ability to increase the truck's GVM by an extra 500kg when FUPS is fitted.

UD is the first Japanese truck manufacturer to provide the highest level of cab strength, meeting the stringent ECE - R29 compliance in the PK range.
