Donation for Earthquake Relief in Japan

UD Trucks Corporation has decided to donate a total of 100 million yen (approximately A$1.24 million) including goods such as trucks to support recovery and relief efforts for people and regions affected by the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake in Japan.

 

The Volvo Group has some 9,500 employees in Japan, excluding private and independent dealers.

 

The Volvo Group's main presence and production in Japan is centered at the UD Trucks facilities in Ageo, Saitama prefecture, where the buildings have suffered minor damage.

 

Ageo is situated some 300 kilometers from the damaged nuclear plant in Fukoshima.

 

The Japanese government has initiated a rolling power outage for the whole metropolitan Tokyo area, including Ageo and Saitama.


The Volvo Group is co-ordinating donations from its employees to Japan.
